Keywords:
Sociology of Technology, Subject, Society, Technological ProcessesAbstract
This essay outlines, from a reflexive vision, the field of Sociology of Technology. A common thread is followed that goes from the classics of Sociology, deterministic and constructivist theories. Latin America and Cuba initially assume these models, but subsequently they are oriented towards a more social and humanist vision, focused on the relations between technology and society.
In accordance with the above, a research methodology will not be presented. The objective will reside in addressing the sociological theories that focused on the theme of technologies and their relationship with the social. Concepts such as science, technology and society are alluded to continuously throughout the article with the intention of establishing the connections between them.
The results will reside in the understanding of sociological theories and how they approach the technology-society relationship from unidirectional approaches to more reciprocal ones. A sketch of the main European and North American theories make up the first part of the article. Next, the particularities in the Latin American context are presented, including the Cuban scenario.
